School inclusion of minority groups' members presents an uneven pattern. While most students belonging to certain immigrant communities have a school achievement similar to native students, other groups have alarming rates of school failure, absenteeism and early drop out.

Cultural Psychology noted that academic difficulties in members of certain minority groups are largely related to discontinuities in values, motives and goals between families and school. We present an action – research project, carried out in a participatory approach.

The present study compares values, motives and goals of different cultural groups (African, Gypsy and Latino communities) and their involvement in children schooling. School mediators, as part of the studied communities, have participated in focus groups before conducting interviews with families in their communities. The data obtained is analyzed according to the Grounded Theory.

Keywords: Minority groups, immigrant children, educational inclusion, family - school relationship.
